So, can you tell me, Diane, what is Story Cottage?
Diane Kohan: Overall, Story Cottage is a small boutique memory care, and we currently have four cottages.
How many residents live in each cottage?
Kristin Cherry: Each cottage houses between 8 and 10 residents.
What kind of care is provided at Story Cottage?
Diane Kohan: We provide basic adult care, which includes support with activities of daily living, as well as multiple engagement opportunities throughout the day for all of our residents. We also have a chef who prepares meals daily, and overall, it’s a wonderful environment.
What is the philosophy behind Story Cottage?

Diane Kohan: At Story Cottage, we really focus on providing flourishing moments for our residents. While not every resident may experience a flourishing moment every day or even every week, if we can provide one special moment for each person as often as possible, that is a huge win.

Kristin has over 30 years of experience in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, with advanced degrees in Gerontology, Family Services, and Counseling. She has held leadership roles including Executive Director, Regional Sales Manager, Divisional Sales Manager, and VP of Sales and Marketing for several large companies. Kristin is also a recognized speaker on senior care topics, presenting throughout the Midwest on Alzheimer’s Disease, Assisted Living vs. Nursing Homes, and Memory Care Programs.
She has received multiple awards, including the BGSU Gerontology Program Partnership Award and the Resident Director Best Practices Award, and has been recognized locally for her leadership in team development. Kristin is also President of the Indiana Kappa Delta Alumnae Association and actively consults with alumnae navigating senior care options for their loved ones.
