Story Cottage Interviewer:
Hi everybody. Welcome to the Story Cottage Podcast. Today we are going to be talking about fitness and dementia with our special guest, Samantha Stipp. She is the owner of Through the Ages Fitness. Welcome, Samantha! We're so excited to have you.
Samantha Stipp:
Thank you. Thank you. Yes, my name is Samantha Stipp, and I am the owner of Through the Ages Fitness. We provide theme-based exercise and brain fitness programs to people who are 50 and older, individuals with memory impairment like dementia and Alzheimer’s, and we also work with individuals with disabilities. We’re travel-based, so we go into all of our locations and provide group classes. We also offer one-on-one private sessions where we can go into clients' homes and work with them there.
Story Cottage Interviewer:
Very cool! Samantha, what inspired you to specialize in fitness for older adults and especially those with dementia?
Samantha Stipp:
Yeah, so I grew up just loving older adults. I'm not sure why — I just have a lot of passion and a lot of love for those who are aging. Growing up, I always found that older people have so much more wisdom, and there’s just so much to learn from them. My passion has always been drawn to older people — talking to them, learning about them. And with my experience working in senior living in the past, I found that fitness for individuals with dementia is sometimes overlooked. When I started this business, I found a lot of passion in helping seniors and giving them something to look forward to, something that helps them help themselves.
Story Cottage Interviewer:
Very cool. I know all of our residents at Story Cottage are so lucky to have you and your team.
