Meet Samantha Stipp
Story Cottage Interviewer:
Welcome to the Story Cottage Podcast. Today we are talking about fitness and dementia with our special guest, Samantha Stipp. She is the owner of Through the Ages Fitness. Welcome, Samantha!
Samantha Stipp:
Thank you! My name is Samantha Stipp, and I am the owner of Through the Ages Fitness. We provide theme-based exercise and brain fitness programs for people over 50, those living with memory impairments like dementia and Alzheimer’s, and individuals with disabilities. In addition, we are travel-based. This means we go to all of our class locations rather than hosting them in one central space. We also offer one-on-one private sessions in clients’ homes, which allows for more personalized care.
Why Focus on Fitness for Dementia
Story Cottage Interviewer:
What inspired you to specialize in fitness for older adults, especially those with dementia?
Samantha Stipp:
I’ve always had a deep respect for older adults. For example, I’ve learned valuable life lessons from their stories and experiences. As a result, I knew my career path would involve serving this community. During my years in senior living, I noticed that fitness for dementia is often overlooked. However, regular movement can help maintain independence, boost mood, and create moments of connection. That realization inspired me to start Through the Ages Fitness and to design programs that give seniors something to anticipate and enjoy.
Our Mission at Through the Ages Fitness
At Through the Ages Fitness, our goal is simple yet powerful: combine physical activity with mental engagement. By incorporating themed classes, we make exercise both fun and purposeful. Therefore, every participant experiences more than just movement — they engage their mind, lift their mood, and connect with others. Even small steps can lead to meaningful health benefits, especially for individuals living with dementia.
